Testosterone Propionate

Testosterone Propionate is the principal hormone of the testicles. The ester, Propionate, is a stable, white or slightly yellow crystalline substance that is insoluble in water but freely soluble in alcohol, ether, acetone, vegetable oils, and other organic solvents. Testosterone Propionate is a single ester testosterone compound and represents one of the most important testosterone compounds every manufactured. When synthetic testosterone was first created it was in its pure form, with no ester attached. Therefore it was a very fast acting compound requiring very frequent injections. In 1937 the pharmaceutical German giant Schering released the first ester based Testosterone Propionate with the commercial name of Testoviron. The same trade name would be given later on to its Testosterone Enanthate. By attaching the Propionate ester to the hormone, the release time can be controlled to provide a more stable blood levels. Although this was not the first synthetic testosterone created, Testosterone Propionate would become the first commercially available Testosterone product. During the 1960’s Testosterone Propionate would lose a lot of its popularity in favor of the larger ester base Testosterone Cypionate and Testosterone Enanthate compounds. Many athletes Propionate will lead to less water retention than the other esters. For this reason, it is often preferred during cutting cycles. But in reality all Testosterone forms provide the same benefits if properly combined with training and dieting. The only difference is the frequency of injections required with other esters.

Testosterone Propionate is a pure testosterone hormone. Although synthetic it still is a perfect replica of the primary naturally produced male androgen testosterone. The half-life of Testosterone Propionate is approximately two days, which is substantially longer than ester free testosterone, which carries a half-life a little less than 24 hours.

As a pure testosterone, Testosterone Propionate carries an anabolic rating of 100 and an androgenic rating of 100 as well.
